What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is an ancient and complete medicine that works to treat the root cause of pathology. Acupuncture is the placement of thin needles amongst carefully selected points on the body. Acupuncture also encompasses cupping, moxa, herbal medicine and nutrition therapy. 

What should I expect my first session?

Your first session will last for about an hour and a half. Your acupuncturist will go through a thorough history and develop a treatment plan. you will receive a needle treatment your first visit. 

How often will I need to come?

On your first session your acupuncturist will develop a treatment plan for how often you will need to receive treatment to maximize the benefiit of your treatments. Often, acupuncture works best by doing more frequent treatments in the beginning and spacing them out as your symptoms improve. 

How much does acupuncture cost?

Treatment prices vary by location and whether or not you have insurance benefits for acupuncture, or are eligible for certain discounts.  Please give your location of choice a call for exact pricing. 

What qualifications does an acupuncturist have?

An acupuncturist must have a minimum of a master's degree. Some have a doctorate degree. They must also be licensed and credentialed throough the state that they practice in. 

How should I prepare for my appointment?

Hydrate adequately before your appointment. It is ideal if you have eaten the day of your appointment. Some people like to wear loosse clothing or bring shorts with them. 

Is acupuncture safe?

Acupuncture is considered a very safe form of medicine when administered by a Licensed Acupuncturist. All needles are sterile and single use. Acupuncturists are certified in Clean Needle Technique.
